Classic Theology vs. The Contemporary Case Study
Classic Theology vs. The Contemporary - Case Study Example His judgment of people is conditioned on his ââ¬Å"changeless purpose concerning sin and conversion.à The scriptural embodiment of the doctrine of immutability is probably captured best in 1 Samuel 15:29 (RSV) where it is written, ââ¬Å"And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.â⬠The scriptural basis of the doctrine of Immutability is fully developed with numerous citations and succinct specificity to unchangeableness that enlightens the doctrine. Scriptures offer confirmation that God is not mortal with the qualities of lying or a changeableness of mind (Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29). There is a timelessness, unchanging quality to God in a time-dependent, changing world (Psalm 102:26). The promises of God are of an eternal nature not capriciously offered to people (Psalm 110:4; Isaiah 31:2). His steadfastness is apparent in his constancy of presence and love (Isaiah 40:28). The final book of the English Old Testament rings with the words of Malachi in Chapter 3, verse 6 (RSV), ââ¬Å"For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.â⬠The New Testament has few direct citations regarding changeableness. Godââ¬â¢s unchangeable nature is restated for these readers in a new context (Hebrews 1:11; 7:21). While scripture offers examples that can be interpreted to show a disparity in whether God has a changeable nature, the major points of consideration would be that the New Testament offers no distinct contradiction to the attribute of Godââ¬â¢s unchangeableness. A modern reformulation of the classic doctrine of immutability has been penned by James Packer. God is simple (that is, totally integrated), perfect and immutable. These words affirm that he is wholly and entirely involved in everything that he is and does and that his nature, goals, and ways of acting do not change, either for the better (being perfect, he cannot become better) or for the worse. His i mmutability is not the changelessness of an eternally frozen pose, but the moral consistency that holds him to his own principles of action and leads him to deal differently with those who change their own behavior towards him. â⬠¢ Would you agree more with Vanhoozer or Nygren on this issue? Why? No, They state, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦from Plato, Aristotle, and the subsequent Hellenistic tradition, the church arrived at the notion that God was altogether unmoved, impassible, immutable, nontemporal and purely actual.â⬠Open theists uniformly teach that the church fathers were so influenced by Greek philosophy when they formulated their theology, that the churchââ¬â¢s historical and theological understanding of God reflects a more philosophical understanding than a biblical one. Carl Henry rightfully noted, ââ¬Å"It is true that medieval theologians were aware of the teaching of certain Greek philosophers in discussing Godââ¬â¢s immutability.

Art With Cassical Myth Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words
Art With Cassical Myth - Essay Example The inside of the cup gives an insight of other two Achaeans, who are involved in a discussion of the momentous events dispassionately spread over the exterior friezes. This is one of the earliest instances in which a single epic theme links all three images. Braises are pictured dressed like a bride when she departures from the Achilles camp. A bridal gesture is given when she lifts her veil with one hand and a firm tug at the wrist. She is accompanied by her military escorts who are in military dress labeled as Agamemnon.â⬠In his departure, his companion Diomedes an important Greek hero at Troy makes his presence to be seen as a kind of prolepsis reference depicted on the other side of the vase, at the embassy to Achilles. Our vase supports our alternative version in the epic tradition, that Agamemnon had used threats to go and fetch braizes. This is supported by Achilles words to his mother that Agamemnon has his prize away. These words are echoed their sites in his diatribe against Agamemnon and Nestor when having an argument with Agamemnon to make amends. Here we begin to see the threats posed on the minds of the characters and what actually happened.Diomedes did not belong to the embassy scene either did it exist. He is a mere allusion, as one of the younger and most enthusiastic of the Achaean heroes. He shows his loyalty to Agamemnon and the Greeks. Markons scene acquires power by placing Agamemnon in physical contact with braizes, although it loses its importance through the omission of Achilles.

The Smoking of Tobacco Essay Example for Free
The Smoking of Tobacco Essay The smoking of tobacco became prevalent early in this century. The production of flue-cured tobacco, the development of cigarette rolling machines, and a public health concern over tuberculosis germs being spread through the cuspidors associated with snuff and chewing tobacco, all contributed to an increase in cigarette smoking. As smoking became more common, health problems emerged which seemed to be related to smoking. In the 1950ââ¬â¢s, sir Richard Doll, a British researcher, studied the smoking habits of more than 34,000 physicians and found a strong correlation between smoking and disease. Throughout the 1950ââ¬â¢s, research data on the effects of tobacco on human health hazard of sufficient importance in the United States to warrant appropriate remedial action. Since then, each Surgeon General has spoken out against smoking; the current Surgeon General proclaims smoking to be the number one preventable cause of disease and death. Medical science is in general agreement that use of tobacco endangers oneââ¬â¢s health. Lung Cancer was the first health effect to be linked to smoking. Subsequent research has linked tobacco usage to heart disease, emphysema, and several other forms of cancer. Recent research has even suggested harmful effects to unborn children of smokers and to those non-smokers exposed to the side-smoke of smokers. One of the benefits of a free society is the freedom of choice for adults, so long as this freedom does not deprive other persons of their freedom The decision to smoke might appear to be one of those choices, since it is usually through that the health risks of smoking are borne largely by the individuals making the choice. Factors that complicate the simplicity of this argument are: 1) Smoking is a social custom and when one person smokes, other persons in the area are exposed to the smoke. 2) Adult smoking habits provide a powerful modeling which affects the habits of children and youth. 3) Society must bear some of the social cost (increased insurance premiums and various tax burdens) of death and disability brought about by the use of tobacco. The tobacco plantà is believed to have originated in the Western Hemisphere. The cultivated species most often grown for North American and European tobacco products is Nicotiana tabacum. The leaves of the plant are prepared for smoking, chewing, or sniffing. In addition nicotine tobacco contains over 19 known carcinogens (most collectively known as tar) and more than 2,000 chemicals. Prior to European influence in the Americas, tobacco was used by the Indians of Mexico and Peru for ceremonies, medicinal purposes, and to alleviate Error! Bookmark not defined. pangs during famines. Columbus is credited with introducing tobacco into Europe. Tobacco use became widely accepted by the Portuguese, Spanish, French, British, and Scandinavians. Explorers and sailors who became dependent upon tobacco began planting seeds at their ports of call, introducing the product into other parts of Europe and Asia.

Medienrecht in Deutschland :: essays research papers fc

Advertising Strategy of Coca-Cola
What is advertisement? Advertisement is Paid, non-personal, public communication about causes, goods and services, ideas, organizations, people, and places, through means such as direct mail, telephone, print, radio, television, and internet. Objective of advertisement are to inform, persuade and motivate potential customers, but also has a strategic significance for the companyââ¬â¢s image in whole or brand the product belongs. Advertisement strategies are varying among the regions. The types of advertisement used in a region are depending on its culture, norms, religion, tradition and language. The advertisement that are used in Western and Asia is very different in every aspect. I will take Coca-Cola to compare strategies of advertisement that have been used in western and Asia. In Asian countries Coca-Colaââ¬â¢s strategy is mostly depend on entertainment and youths. But in Western countries the strategy is a bit different. They try to promote the drink is healthy and safe to drink. Even Coca-Cola has introduced Diet Coke to attract people in Western country. The Western people more take care about their health compare to Asians. So they have to show the drink is suitable for a healthy lifestyle. Another important aspect of Coca-Cola Companyââ¬â¢s advertisement in Western countries is they like to use woman and sex element. Most of their advertisements are with sexy ladies who are models or actresses holding the drink or holding it in their hand. In Western countries it is very normal to promote a product in this way. But in Asian countries it is very hard to do such advertisement because most countries have strict regulations and very religious.Asian countries give importance to cultural values and they are against sex elements in advertisement. Coca-Colaââ¬â¢s advertisement in Asian countries gives importance to youths and youngsters. They advertisement normally shows that they will get new energy after drink it. They will so energetic and can do things without getting tired. But in Western countries they give importance to all. Even they use children also in advertisement to attract them to drink Coca-Cola. The company give equal importance to adults also. The Coca-Colaââ¬â¢s advertisement in Asia also gives importance to Asian festivals and celebration. For every festival and celebration like Chinese New Year, Independence Day, Christmas and so on Coca-Cola will introduce new advertisement to promote their product. Sometimes they insert the cultural values in these advertisements. But in Western countries the situation is very different. Cultural values of Asians and Western people are very different. So large companies like Coca-Cola have to differentiate their advertisement according to region to survive and lead the market.

Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge - 1127 Words
Out of all the stories I have read in class so far, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce, has touched me most. When I first began reading the story I felt as though I was not interested, because my assumptions of what the story was going to be about were completely different than the stories actual content. As I set aside my judgment and let myself try to enjoy the story, I found myself anxiously reading to the bitter end. This story was not only interesting and unique, but also had an added twist at the end, which surprised most readers. Depending on how observant the reader is with picking up on foreshadowing and symbolic meaning, one may realize before the final sentences that Peyton Farquar was not actually escapingâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦My home, thank God, is as yet outside their lines; my wife and little ones are still beyond the invaders farthest advance. Peyton shows signs of denial in this segment by presenting the possibility of escaping which is highly improbable at this point. An example of anger would be when the author says, To die of hanging at the bottom of a river!--the idea seemed to him ludicrous. To be hanged and drowned, he thought, that is not so bad; but I do not wish to be shot. No; I will not be shot; that is not fair. As Peyton begins hallucinating, he expresses anger that he might actually be shot now that he has escaped the hanging. An instance of depression strikes when the author says, By nightfall he was fatigued, footsore, famished. His neck was in pain and lifting his hand to it found it horribly swollen. He is exhausted and disoriented. Even the stars look different and He was sure they were arranged in some order which had a secret and malign significance. This shows clear signs of his struggle coming to an end, leading him into a depression that rationalizes his impossible survival. Falling into acceptance occurs when he feels as if he had Ãâ¦recovered from a deliriumÃ⦠and he sees his hom e,Ãâ¦all bright and beautiful At the bottom of the steps she stands waiting, with a smile of ineffable joy, an attitude of matchless grace and dignity. Dual Relationships Within The Mental Health Field
In the mental health field, dual relationships can often be damaging to both the client and the therapist. There are several situations where dual relationships, whether considered ethical or not, affect the course of treatment for the client, and the personal lives of therapists. Although some forms of dual or multiple relationships are unavoidable, engaging in a personal relationship between patient and client always involves the possibility of skewing therapeutic results. Dual relationships are defined as having relations with the client outside of therapy, and in most cases it is considered to be unethical. There are four main types of dual relationships including professional, social, business, and sexual. A professional dualâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Once a therapist enters into a dual relationship with their clients, feelings of mistrust, unhealthy attachment, and exploitation are common. In a survey conducted by the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, a group o f various females who admitted to having sexual contact with their therapists/ psychiatrists were interviewed and given a questionnaire to measure their self-esteem, depression, attitudes, and psychosomatic/psychological assumptions. The results showed that the women ranging from ages 26-45 developed a strong mistrust and anger toward these health care professionals (Feldman-Summers Jones, 1984). This study demonstrated how much influence a therapist has on their client and shows that the bond between therapist and client is delicate and needs to be treated with both respect and understanding. ââ¬Å"Sexual boundary violations are considered the most serious ethical infraction in the mental health profession, as well as in higher education and pastoral counseling. Recognized as unethical due to the power imbalance inherent in the structure of the therapist-patient and teacher-student dyads, erotic contact between therapists and patients has been revealed in prevalence studies to o ccur at an unacceptably high incidence rate (9 to 12 per cent) among mental health practitionersâ⬠(Czlenza, 2007).
